The House Cup Reading Challenge

So I stumbled across this over on Books & Munches, and I knew I just had to join in too. I mean, a House Cup reading challenge… Who wouldn’t want to do this!!! Not only will it be super fun, it’ll also help make a dent in that massive TBR pile, and there are prizes! I am so in!

So instead of me typing up all the info, I am just going to provide you with all the links you need to check it out for yourself. The challenge is being hosted by 4 lovely bloggers, each one taking the role as head of a Hogwarts House. You will be able to find out all about the challenge on any of their blogs. You can sign up to join in until the 14th October, so check it out and jump on board if it sounds like something you would like to do.

So here I am going to share with you my House Cup Reading Challange TBR, and also my Hogwarts Student Questionairre. If you are joining in too, make sure to leave the links to your Challenge TBR in the comments so I can check them out!

Hogwarts Student Questionnaire

Name: Toni-Emma
Hogwarts House: Ravenclaw
Wand Type: 9¾”, Vine Wood, Dragon Heartstring

Favourite Subject: Herbology
Favourite Teacher: Professor Lupin

WOOO GO RAVENCLAW! I have identified as a Ravenclaw since I was 7 years old, and thanks to J.K Rowling and the wonder that is Pottermore it was confirmed! I’m ready to tackle this challenge and rack up some points for my house! Any fellow Ravenclaws out there?

Challenge TBR List!

Main Challenge (20 points each)
So I decided to use this part of the challenge to pick books from my TBR of varying lengths, so First Year will start us off with a shorter book and I will finish up in Seventh year with a longer book!
First Year: The View From Saturday – E.L. Konigsburg
Second Year: Hello, Goodbye, and Everything In Between – Jennifer E. Smith
Third Year: Drowned – Nichola Reilly
Fourth Year: Rebel of the Sands – Alwyn Hamilton
Fifth Year: Of Poseidon – Anna Banks
Sixth Year: Sinner – Maggie Stiefvater
Seventh Year: Teardrop – Lauren Kate

Bonus Challenges (10 points each)

Gryffindor: Read a book with an epic hero/heroine:
Nevernight – Jay Kristoff

Hufflepuff: Read a book that contains a strong friendship :
Wonder – R. J. Palacio

Ravenclaw: Read a book that revolves around a mystery:
The Husband’s Secret – Liane Moriarty
Slytherin: Read a book set in a dystopian world:
The Eye of Minds – James Dashner

Astronomy Class: Read a book set in outer space:
Illimunae – Jamie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
Care of Magical Creatures: Read a book that features an animal or magical/mythical creature:
Before She Ignites – Jodi Meadows

Tri-Wizard Tournament: Read a book that includes a competition:
The Night Circus – Erin Morgenstern

Occlumency: Read a book about a character with magical abilities or superpowers:
Of Fire and Stars – Audrey Coulthurst

Death Eater: Read a book told from the POV of a villain:
The Isle of the Lost – Melissa De La Cruz

Platform 9 3/4: Read a book that features travel:
The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants – Ann Brashares

Time Turner: Read a book set in the future or past:
My Lady Jane – Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, Jodi Meadows

Fantastic Beasts: Read a spin-off to a beloved series:
Four – Veronica Roth

Dumbledore’s Army: Buddy-read a book with a friend or group:

So the probability of me getting through all of these during the challenge is very very unlikely, but I am going to give it my best shot. All of these books are off my TBR shelf (minus 2 which are rereads that I have been wanting to get too), so if I can get through even a few of these I will be making a good dent in my tbr.
The only thing missing from my list is a Buddy Read book… well I figured that I should probably find a Buddy first before we choose a book. So if you are keen to Buddy Read with me, let me know and we can sort out a book that works for both of us!
So who’s joining in? Anyone want to Buddy Read?

Hello! I’ve had The Night Circus for so long but never got round to it. I’m excited, and hopefully this challenge will get me to finally read it.

This looks like so much so I’m joining too and I happen to be apart of Ravenclaw too! I’ve read four books on your list and I think my favorite was Illuminae, if you’re into audiobooks that audiobook is amazing and probably one of the favorite ones I’ve ever heard.

    Best of luck!

Wooo Team Ravenclaw! I tend to not enjoy audiobooks as much as reading the book myself. But if I’m really busy and have no time to read i’ll usually listen to an audiobook while getting other stuff done!

I think if I’m going to get anywhere near completing this challenge I am going to have to use a few audiobooks too, haha!

Do you have a buddy reader yet for the Dumbledores Army Challenge?

I’ve heard so many wonderful things about it, but for some reason it’s just been sitting on my shelf for forever!
