Monthly Wrap-Up – SEPTEMBER

Is it just me or did September fly by? Feels like I was just writing my August wrap-up, and here we are in October! September is always a busy month for me. Lots of birthdays to celebrate, including my own! Happy Birthday to me! It also marked the beginning of Spring for us down here in the Southern Hemisphere, so there was a lot of gardening going on too. Right in the middle of the month I ended up sick and couch bound for a few days, which although it was no fun it did give me some time to get some reading and TV watching in!

Since September is such a busy month for our family, I didn’t expect to get a lot of reading done. However I managed to finish 3 books which I am really happy about, and it kept me on track for my Goodreads goal! I am still hoping I may be able to pass my goal, even if it’s just by a few books!

Books read in September:
This Savage Song – Victoria Schwab
The Sandcastle Empire – Kayla Olson
The Thousandth Floor – Katharine McGee

So my favourite of the month was definitely This Savage Song. I adored every moment of it, and fell totally in love with August Flynn. I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy of Our Dark Duet so that I can continue with his story.

I liked The Sandcastle Empire and The Thousandth Floor also, but unfortunately I can’t say I loved them. Both of them had a few issues, but I still enjoyed them and will definitely read the sequels. You can read my review of The Thousandth Floor HERE.

It’s only fair that since I finished 3 books, that I should be able to buy 3 books… right? Well it doesn’t matter, because I did manage to pick up 3 books for the TBR shelf this month. Luckily they were all second hand, so my bank account was very happy about that. I managed to find Teardrop by Lauren Kate, Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen, and The Crowns Game by Evelyn Skye. All 3 were in fantastic condition and at a bargain price! I also got the September Owl Crate, which I haven’t taken photos of yet because I am useless. The theme was Mythical Creatures and the book includes was Before She Ignites by Jodi Meadows. I am very excited to dive into that one! Unboxing photos to come at some point…

September was a good (and slightly sad) month for Television! First of all, the 6th and last ever season of Teen Wolf ended. What a damn emotional roller-coaster that was!

It’s always so weird when a show you are really invested in ends, specially after a decent amount of time like 6 years. You’ve gotten to know all these characters over such a long period of time, and then all of a sudden they are gone. I HAVE SO MANY FEELS!

I also decided to rewatch all of Will & Grace in September, in preparation for the reunion season! I am halfway through Season 8 now, so only a few more episodes to go and then I can watch the new episodes. To be honest, I will probably be finished today, yay! Will & Grace is one of my favourite shows ever, so I am so ridiculously excited about the new season!

As well as that starting, we also got back a few of the comedies that we love to watch like Big Bang Theory and Modern Family. And coming up in October a whole bunch of our favourite shows will be coming back for their new seasons. I will have to pick one or two to post about each week! What show would you like to see reaction posts for?

No progress on our movie challenge this month. None at all! However we did manage to see a couple of movies at the cinema. Boyfriend and I went and did a double feature for my birthday, and I bet you won’t guess what we saw… Kingsman: The Golden Circle and of course, American Assassin.

I enjoyed both films. Kingsman was funny, and Taron was just as charming as ever, but I honestly did prefer the first one. But the first one was so fantastic I wasn’t expecting anything to beat it.  Now American Assassin… I obviously cannot give you an unbiased opinion because I am going to adore anything that Dylan O’Brien was in. And I did adore it. So much so, that I’m hoping to go and see it again maybe this weekend. I’ll go by myself if I have to…

I’ve pretty much talked myself into it. I am going to see it again! Haha.

I was much more active on the blog this month, which has been so great. I love hearing from you all and finding out your opinions on my posts. It is so amazing and I hope you all continue to read and comment! So here is a roundup of all Book & Blooms September posts…

And here are some posts by other bloggers that I really loved this month…

Since September was my Birthday month, I chose my favourite flower for the Flower of the Month… the Gerbera Daisy. I absolutely adore this flower as it comes in so many different bright colours, and always makes my home feel super cheerful.

The Gerbera Daisy has many meanings dependent on things like culture or colour of the flower, but all of them lean towards happiness. The Egyptians believed that the flower meant Closeness to Nature and Devotion to the Sun. This is one of my favourite meanings for this flower.

The pink Gerberas in the picture mean admiration, adoration or high esteem. All lovely energies to have in your home.

Another fantastic reason to have Gerberas in your home, is that they are wonderful for your sleep. Unlike other plants that slow down their oxygen production overnight, Gerberas keep it at a steady flow. This makes them a perfect flower to keep in your bedroom as that flow of oxygen will help you have a restful and deep sleep.

So that was my month! How was September for you?
What did you read, what did you do?

I’m so glad to see you loved This Savage Song! I read my first V.E. Schwab book two months ago and I decided then that she’s a new favourite!

Saint Anything is amazing – I hope you love it! 🙂
