Never Have I Ever… read Percy Jackson UPDATE #2

I am really getting into my first read through of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series! Even as a fully grown adult I am not ashamed to say that I am enjoying it quite a bit! Once again if you missed what is going on you can find the original post HERE, and my first update HERE.

Since I listened to the Audiobook for the first one, I figured I would continue with that trend and I borrowed the audio for Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters on overdrive too. So handy being able to adult at the same time as listen to a great book, specially when you have a lot of adulting to do! It is also nice to be able to lay in bed on these freezing winter nights and keep my hands all cozy under the blankets instead of having to hold a book, haha!

Sea of Monsters was definitely more exciting for me than the Lightening Thief. It was nice to not have a lot of explaining like the first book (which I understand was totally necessary) and to have a bit more adventure! I also found this one incredibly funny! The addition of some humor was a big thumbs up for me.

The writing was definitely for an audience that was a little bit older so I am really hoping this trend continues with each book, kind of in a Harry Potter fashion I guess. I really loved the introduction of more myths and legends and I honestly can’t wait to see what else pops up in this series. The introduction of all these gods and creatures is what is keeping me interested. Not to mention, that little surprise at the end! That definitely has me interested in picking up the next one.

Next up… Percy Jackson and the Titans Curse!

Now I actually own a copy of The Titans Curse, so I’m going to read the physical copy this time instead of listening to the audiobook. It will be interesting to see how much I get into it if I am actually reading it myself, and not having it read to me! I am very excited to pick this one up to see how that little twist at the end of the Sea of Monsters is going to affect the rest of the story!

The humor in these books is definitely A+!!! I read these in middle school and adored them <3

I missed the bandwagon on this one, as I think I was just a little too old when the first one came out. It’s interested reading them for the first time as an adult, but a lot of fun! They will definitely be going on my daughters shelf.
