Monthly Roundup – May Favourites

May was quite a lovely month in terms of wonderful reads, pretty things and beautiful blooms.
So these are just a few of my favourite things from the month of May…

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas

First up we have ‘A Court of Wings and Ruin’ of course! This definitely seemed to be one of the mostly anticipated releases of the year! I was late to the bandwagon and only picked up the first two of the series in April. The 3 week wait for the third was damn awful, so I really feel for all of you who felt like that for an entire year!

I wanted to devour this book but I did my best to go through it slowly and savor it as best I could. It took me around 5 days before I just had to sit down and get to the end!

Now, I really enjoyed this book however I did only give it 4/5 stars as I had a few issues with the ending. We wont go into those here though… hopefully I will go into detail in a review at some point in the future. But even so, it was definitely my favourite new read of May!

Did any of you read ACOWAR this month? If so what did you think?

Karen Murrell Natural Lipsticks

A little while ago I went to a wonderful event with beautiful gift bags, and one of the things inside those gift bags were the Karen Murrell lipsticks. I had been seeing her stuff all over instagram for months and I had been so waiting to try them out. Now that I have, I can safely tell you that I absolutely adore them!

The Moisture Stick is lovely and hydrating, and doesn’t leave too much of a shine which I like! The colour is called Carnation Mist and I have been wearing it every single day. It is such a beautiful colour, it goes on nice and smooth and it is long lasting. But my favourite thing about thing about this lipstick is that it smells like CINNAMON! Honestly, it smells absolutely amazing.

These products are all completely natural, with ingredients such as avocado oil, evening primrose oil, candelilla, carnauba wax, cinnamon and sweet orange. This means that not only do they look beautiful, but they improve the condition of your lips with every application. All of these amazing attributes has made these lipsticks my new favourite!

Ethique Beauty

Ethique Products May Favourite

Recently my mum and I were having a conversation about the amount of plastic we all use and how we wanted to try and cut back where we could. One of the first things we thought of was how many bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash we go through! I myself would go through a bottle of each every two weeks. That’s 6 bottles a month. THAT’S 72 BOTTLES A YEAR! So we did a little research and we came across Ethique!

Ethique is an amazing NZ company that make and sell solid beauty bars that are made with all natural, cruelty free, fairtrade and sustainable ingredients. And if that wasn’t enough, there is no plastic packaging! No horrible bottles to be seen on their website. Everything is packaged in biodegradable packaging. It all sounded amazing, but would the products work for us?

Well after sampling a few different items I can tell you that they definitely worked for me. My skin feels fantastic after using their body bars, and I cannot rave enough about the Shampoo and Conditioner. My hair has never looked and felt this amazing. I definitely will not be going back to the bottles! If you think you would like to try and #giveupthebottle I can highly recommend Ethique.

Harry Styles Debut Album

Okay so, Harry Styles… I was expecting good things from this boy. I mean, his voice can really do no wrong in my opinion. One Direction are a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine. They are nothing like the rest of the music I listen too, but I just can’t help but love them.

Saying that, Harry’s debut solo album is so my taste! I was not expecting something like this! This album was literally giving me goosebumps at moments. It is on repeat right now as I type this post! This is definitely my favourite album of the month.

I already know I am going to be listening to this album a lot throughout the year. Somehow it manages to be a balance of the perfect Winter album and the perfect Summer album all at once. I am super grateful that I managed to get a ticket to his show in December because it is going to be absolutely amazing!

Flower of the Month: Delphiniums

So every Saturday we take a little family time and head to the local market to choose flowers for our home for the week. This month my daughter has chosen Delphiniums twice, and they are just so beautiful. Definitely a new favourite of mine.

Also known as Larkspur, these flowers come from the same family as Buttercups and they come in a variety of beautiful colours (I myself am partial to the blue). They have a very subtle but lovely fragrance.

The name Delphinium derives from the Latin for “dolphin”, referring to the shape of the bud and spur. I have fallen so in love with these gorgeous blooms that I think we may have to plant some in our outdoor garden.

(If you are wanting to get some of these for yourself, please be aware that most delphinium plants and seeds are poisonous to humans as well as to cattle, and ingestion can be fatal, so best not to have them around if you have children or pets that like to try and eat everything! The plant can also cause irritation to the skin, so if you have sensitive skin like me, its best not to let the flowers actually touch your skin)

So that was my round up of my very favourite items from May 2017.
What were some of your favourite things from the month of May?
I would love to hear all about your discoveries and loves!

Right now I’m obsessed with Halsey’s new album, Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, but oh man you are so right about Harry Styles’ debut. I never really liked One Direction, so I was really happily surprised to see that I liked his style of music individually.

Oooh I’ll have to give that one a listen 🙂 I feel like all of them going off on their own has given them the opportunity to show their individual styles, and also show how much their talents have developed and matured!

Thanks so much for your comment 🙂
